Concrete Stains & Colors

Have you ever thought about how great it would be to have a beautiful, natural-looking patio? Concrete stain and dye are the solutions - they will turn your stamped concrete patio into gorgeous, expensive-looking stone. Adding stains and colors is a great way to make your decorative concrete slab look more natural. The most popular process involves using acid or water-based stains or concrete dye. Depending on what finish you are trying to achieve, if done correctly, this should render your stamped concrete patio look like wood, flagstone, or fieldstone. If you want that done in your pool deck or driveway, leave it to our team of experts. We will transform your average-looking patio that would “wow” you and your neighbors. We have been servicing our customers all around DuPage and Kane Counties by providing them with the best products and unsurpassed customer service for years now!

Stamped Concrete Colors

Choosing the right color can help your concrete slab look natural and blend seamlessly with the surrounding area. Depending on what material you would like your concrete floor look like, here are some of the most popular color tones:

Gray Concrete Stains

This concrete stain mimics lighter colored stones to charcoal-dark stones. Depending on the style, these shades typically showcase modern minimalistic vibes.

If you want your concrete slab to have a subtle earthy tone, red shades are the popular choice. This tone ranges from light terra cotta to darker chestnut color.

Types of Stamped Concrete Stains

water-based concrete stains, concrete dyes

Acid-Based Concrete Stains

Acid-based concrete stains work by penetrating the surface and reacting chemically with the concrete to form a permanent bond. It uses a small amount of metallic salt dissolved in hydrochloric acid that reacts to the calcium hydroxide in the concrete. After this reaction happens, the stain will become permanent and will never wash away.

Water-Based Concrete Stains

This type of stain is a mixture of color pigments, water, or acetone to create the desired color. It can be applied using conventional spraying equipment, and it leaves no chemical residue.

Water-based stain does not rely on chemical reactions resulting in a more workable variety of colors and uniformity.

Concrete Dyes

Dye particles are smaller than acid-based or acrylic-based stains. It works by filling in the concrete pores making it hard to remove. Unlike stains, concrete dyes are not UV-stable, making it more suitable for indoor concrete floors.
